What Affects the Scope of an Engagement?

Every proposal is scoped individually. These are the factors we evaluate in the free consultation to build your custom quote.

High

Number of unique page templates

A 200-page site with 8 unique templates costs the same as an 8-page site. We audit templates and components, not individual URLs.

High

Component complexity

Custom date pickers, data grids, rich text editors, and drag-and-drop interfaces require significantly more testing time.

High

Number of documents (PDFs)

Each PDF is tagged and remediated individually. Volume significantly affects scope — we offer bulk pricing for large document libraries.

Medium

Native mobile apps (iOS / Android)

Mobile apps are separate audits from the web. Each platform requires its own testing methodology and tools.

Medium

VPAT / ACR preparation

Preparing an Accessibility Conformance Report based on audit findings adds scope depending on the product complexity.

Low–Medium

Timeline urgency

Rush projects carry a surcharge. Most audits deliver within the standard window — tell us your deadline in the consultation.

Is a Professional Accessibility Audit Worth It?

High risk

Do nothing

No upfront cost

ADA lawsuit: avg. $25,000–$150,000 settlement plus legal fees. Reputational damage and repeat suits.

False protection

Accessibility overlay

Annual subscription

Overlays have been named in ADA lawsuits. Courts have ruled they do not achieve WCAG compliance.

Real protection

BuildWithAccess

Scoped to your project

Legal-defensible documentation. A documented good-faith remediation effort is the strongest ADA defense available.

Pricing FAQ

Is there a free initial assessment?
Yes. Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute consultation where we review your site, scope the work, and provide a fixed-price proposal. No commitment required — it's genuinely free.
Do you charge by page count or by template?
By template. A site with 500 pages and 10 unique templates costs the same as a 10-page site with 10 unique templates — because we are auditing the design and code pattern, not each URL. We confirm your template count during the free consultation.
What information do I need to provide to get a quote?
Just come to the call with a general sense of your site or app. Helpful details include: your tech stack (React, WordPress, etc.), number of unique page templates, whether you have PDFs or mobile apps, and your deadline. We do the scoping — you do not need to send a spec.
Can we start with just an audit and add remediation later?
Absolutely. Most clients start with the audit, use it to prioritize fixes internally, and then bring us back for remediation on the issues their team cannot resolve. The audit deliverables are designed to stand alone.
What is included in the audit — is it just a report?
Our audit includes the full report, code-level fix guidance written for your specific technology stack, and 30 days of Q&A support. It is not a generic checklist exported from an automated tool — every issue is manually verified and documented with a fix example.
How does your pricing compare to hiring an in-house specialist?
A full-time senior accessibility engineer costs $120,000–$160,000 per year plus benefits and recruiting time. Our engagements give you senior-level expertise for a fraction of that cost, with no long-term overhead. Many clients use us for the audit, then build internal capability with our training service.
Are there discounts for nonprofits or government agencies?
Yes — we offer reduced rates for 501(c)(3) nonprofits and can work within government procurement processes including sole-source justification. Mention your organization type in the consultation and we will accommodate it in the proposal.
